Case Study Competition: Engage Your Local College & University Students

    By: Mitchell Gehrisch

Does your DMO have an established relationship with your local higher education institution? Yes or no, DMAI’s Case Study Competition is an excellent opportunity to engage local college or university students studying tourism, communication, marketing, or business. Plus it’s a great opportunity to spotlight your DMO’s achievements.

Launched in 2012, the "Excellence in Practice - Case Study Competition," connects universities and students to DMOs to examine, within an individual destination, one of the three major challenges identified by the 2008 Futures Study - advocacy, technology and social responsibility

"This competition reaches out to the students who will be the future leaders of our industry, encouraging students to learn more about destination marketing; plus their contribution ultimately helps the travel and tourism industry," said Michael D. Gehrisch, President & CEO.

The student groups must include the name of a sponsoring DMO on their case study submission.

Final case studies highlight DMO best practices and contribute to the destination marketing industry's overall body knowledge through the examination of DMO achievements.

Interested in participating for the spring semester?
Students, educators, and DMO professionals interested in participating should review the call for case studies guidelines and submit their completed entry form, original case study and informational slide presentation to Mitchell Gehrisch by April 27, 2012.

Representatives from both the winning Undergraduate and Graduate teams will be invited to present their case studies at DMAI's 98th Annual Convention, July 16-18, 2012 in Seattle, WA.  For more details on participating, go here.
