Want Your Thoughts on Cultural Heritage DMO Toolkit

By: Daniel Fenton

As everyone by now knows, one of the issues I’m passionate about as DMAI Chair is championing the arts – especially programs and events which reflect a community’s unique appeal. Having DMOs more actively engaged with art partners is a great way to strengthen their position in the community and their destination’s appeal.

A special Joint Task Force appointed by DMAI and Americans for the Arts (AFTA) is developing a new cultural and heritage focused toolkit designed to assist in supporting this important community connection.  Now open for public review and comment, the toolkit is currently available via a special task force blog, offering readers a single location for toolkit access and public comment.

This resource is specifically developed to enhance relationships at the community level between DMOs and a destination's cultural-heritage stakeholders including presenters, facilities, organizations, and events. Not meant as a road map or blueprint, this toolkit will be designed to breakdown perceived obstacles through conversation and thought-starters, and will be easily adaptable for communities of all sizes.

We’d love to hear your creative ideas on how to enhance this tool kit by June 1. Thanks!
